In our last blog looking at the Japanese version of the Miyuki website, we introduced you to the Miyuki Channel - a resource section hosting lots of tutorials, videos and useful links to help you learn all sorts of different beading skills and styles using Miyuki products. We focused on the Peyote Stitch Channel and the items you could make following their instructions.
This time, we’re looking at the Bead Lacing Channel in this section - a lovely way of creating pretty and delicate beaded motifs that look like little lacy components.
Accessing The Website
You can find the website two ways:
1. Simply go to the web address https://www.miyuki-beads.co.jp/
2. On their English version of the website, at the top of their page there's a link to the Japanese website - just click on it!
To see the Miyuki Channel section click on the link on the Home page.
The Miyuki Channel section is a free resource showing how you can use Miyuki beads in different ways, along with links to downloadable PDF's and videos. Please note, the PDF's are in Japanese, however they do have pictures and diagrams that you can easily follow. Alternatively, there are free websites where you can upload the PDF and it will translate it for you. |
The channel introduces you to seven basic motifs, all of which can be made with a handful of Miyuki Seed beads, Bugle beads and even Quarter Tila beads. |
Each motif ranges in complexity and can be used independently or connected to another motif. To have a go at your own motif simply click on each one to follow the clear and simple instructions on screen.
As you scroll down the page you can also see some examples of how the motifs have been used e.g. as a pair of beautiful earrings using a single motif attached to a tassel or as a more complex necklace with several motifs stitched together. You can even create home and wall decorations using these motifs.
Experiment and try creating the motifs in different sized beads and different style beads to see the endless variations you can make. These would be perfect as a basis for delicate snowflakes, mystical stars and florally wall art!
